Momentum Fills Up on Swig & Swine

Tuesday night, our client Swig & Swine hosted a soft opening of their new restaurant location in Summerville open to friends and family of the proprietors. The Swig & Swine staff served up their famous Family Platter, which consists of authentically smoked sausage, brisket, chicken, wings, BBQ and three sides of your choice. Every meal was served with true southern hospitality by each staff member, and the food was better than ever. At Swig & Swine, all meats are smoked on site by Anthony; he’s mastered the art of BBQ through years of practice. Swig & Swine is one of only two restaurants in Charleston to have access to prime cuts of certified meat. Check out Swig & Swine in Summerville, opening this weekend!

Micro-Moment Marketing with Momentum

In the world of marketing, there are always new and exciting ways to reach out and advertise to customers. One of our favorite ways to shout out to customers and enthusiast is through micro-moment marketing. Most of those who own a mobile device take their phones with them every step of the way throughout the day. This gives companies an open window to grasp the attention of the customers, whether they are at home or on the go, 24/7. Using micro-moment marketing lets businesses know what products or services consumers are currently seeking, making your company more accessible. This will help the company and product or service target relevant customers and move quickly. There are four key micro-moments: I-Want-to-Know Moments, I-Want-to-Go Moments, I-Want-to-Do Moments and I-Want-to-Buy Moments. Tracking these moments helps to target the right audience at the right time. The goal is always to grasp the attention of the consumers in a way that will keep them looking for more and will result in the creation of loyal customers.

Let Momentum Marketing help you target the right customer at the right time. Call us at (843) 377-8450.

Charleston’s Car: The 2016 LR4

By Megan Busch

I’m not a girl who knows a ton about cars. I’ve driven Jeeps all my life (as has my mother), and I really haven’t veered off that track—ever. So, I’ve teamed up with the group at Baker Motor Company to try new things, namely cars outside my norm. A few times each month, I’ll be driving one of Baker’s cars and letting you know what I think. This isn’t going to be a series of Car and Driver or Motor Trend reviews. It’s just a girl sharing her honest opinion about some nifty vehicles.

Aside from the Evoque, which isn’t a classic Land Rover, I haven’t stepped inside one of the iconic, boxy, British SUVs, so driving the LR4 was a real treat for me (honestly, it reminded me of a Wrangler, only more luxurious). The LR4 showcased many of the same features found in the fanciest of cars—from the smooth leather seats like the Jaguar F-PACE and the integrated infotainment system like the Infiniti QX60. However, like Charlestonians, the luxurious LR4 is always ready for a good time in the great outdoors…. READ MORE HERE.

Defining Display Advertising

We took a moment to pick the brain of our VP of Digital Marketing, Alex Kreitman, to understand the meaning of display advertising. Here’s his definition:

“Display advertising is the use of banner ads placed on third-party websites or blogs to drive traffic to a desired website or landing page in order to increase product awareness or create conversations. Display advertising uses demographic and geographic targeting, capturing a user’s cookie and browser history to determine demographics, location, and interests and to target appropriate ads to those browsers. In addition to contextual targeting, display ads are based on a user’s online behavior. This practice is known as behavioral targeting. For example, if a user is known to have recently visited a number of automotive websites, that user can then be served auto-related ads when he or she visits other, non-automotive sites.”

Swig & Swine Partners with Tradesman Brewing Co. to Offer Pitmaster Rye Pale Ale

Our clients are just the coolest! Check out the latest news about Swig & Swine BBQ in West Ashley!

The “Pitmaster Rye Pale Ale”, a beer concocted by Queen Street Hospitality CEO Jonathan Kish, is now on tap at Swig & Swine BBQ in West Ashley on Savannah Hwy. for a limited time. Kish partnered with the one and only Chris Winn and Scott McConnell at Tradesman Brewing Co. to bring Kish’s recipe to the tap for the first time, and it’s only $5 a pint.

The Pitmaster Rye Pale Ale has a dark gold hue and was brewed with centennial and cascade hops, along with a little bit of smoked malt so “the last thing you taste is the smoke,” added Kish. This slight smoke flavor is the perfect pairing for the meat paradise that Pitmaster Anthony DiBernardo provides at Swig & Swine.

Kish said, “We’ve known Chris and Scott for a long time, and they’re great guys. I’m a home brewer myself, and Tradesman is doing a lot with smaller batch beers so I wanted to jump on the opportunity. This is an awesome hyper-local collaboration, bringing two Charleston businesses together to provide something tasty and unique.”

About Swig & Swine BBQ:

Swig & Swine BBQ was opened in 2013 by barbecue enthusiast and Pitmaster Anthony DiBernardo partnered with Queen Street Hospitality Group, led by Steve Kish and his sons Jonathan and Patrick Kish. Swig & Swine has become a fast favorite in the Lowcountry because of its authentic all-wood smoked barbecue accompanied with handmade sauces and southern sides. Without a doubt, Swig & Swine is a barbecue lover’s paradise with mouthwatering pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked turkey, smoked chicken and wings, smoked pork belly, housemade sausage and ribs.

Swig & Swine smokes up two locations in West Ashley (1217 Savannah Highway) and in Summerville (1990 Old Trolley Road). Swig & Swine flaunts its huge custom smokers in front of the restaurants while the inside and outside the dining areas and bar welcomes guests to chow down on award-winning cue accompanied with cocktails and 60+ craft beers. Both restaurants offer in-house and on-site catering for events.

Quote of the Week

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them, because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” -Rob Siltanen, Apple

Three Ways to Help after Hurricane Matthew

Everyone in the Lowcountry has had a hectic week as we prepared for and weathered Hurricane Matthew. If you’ve returned to Charleston to find your house still standing strong, you may be thinking, How can I help those whose homes and resources have been devastated by the storm? We’ve compiled three ways to lend a hand, both at home and abroad. Let’s band together as a community and make a difference for those in need!

  1. It’s the little things. In many areas of the Lowcountry, one home could be safe and sound while a neighbor faces water damage or destruction from debris or fallen trees. If your home is okay and you’re safe, take a moment to help your neighbors by cleaning up their yards, removing plywood from windows, or cooking a meal for another family without power. Little acts of kindness make the community stronger.
  2. Send funds to those less fortunate. Many organizations are already on the ground in third-world countries—like Haiti—affected by Hurricane Matthew. Find an organization you trust—perhaps the Red Cross or the locally headquartered Water Missions International—and help fund their response efforts to underprivileged areas in the Caribbean.
  3. Join a disaster relief group. If you’re up for the challenge, consider joining a team to go to a disaster area and help. Currently, organizations like CARE are looking for volunteers to help those affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti, especially if you speak the native language (French or Creole) or have a highly valued skill, like medical training or construction expertise.

There are many ways to help our neighbors, our surrounding states, and countries abroad in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. Take a moment to lend a helping hand today!

Swig & Swine Participates In Brown Water Society’s 3rd Annual BBQ

Here at Momentum, we are proud to see our client Swig & Swine at the 3rd Annual BBQ held by the Brown Water Society. The event took place on October 2nd at the Rifle Club, and the lineup for this year consisted of pit masters such as Rodney Scott, Wayne Mueller, Bryan Furman, Sam Jones, and our very own Anthony DiBernado from Swig & Swine. The Brown Water Society is a nonprofit organization with one focus—whiskey! The society holds educational seminars about distilling, provides other forms of education and fellowship, as well as hosts several events throughout the year with charitable goals. Anthony served the attending guests Swig & Swine’s famous brisket. He has been doing this for years and takes pride in making sure all of his meats are smoked to perfection; it’s more of a passion than a job. Swig & Swine gets prime cuts of certified meat, making the brisket so rare that only one other place in the Charleston area has access to it. Our team at Momentum could not be any more thrilled than we are now with the successes of Swig & Swine this year.

Coupe Shopping: A Review of the Infiniti Q60

By Megan Busch

I’m not a girl who knows a ton about cars. I’ve driven Jeeps all my life (as has my mother), and I really haven’t veered off that track—ever. So, I’ve teamed up with the group at Baker Motor Company to try new things, namely cars outside my norm. A few times each month, I’ll be driving one of Baker’s cars and letting you know what I think. This isn’t going to be a series of Car and Driver or Motor Trend reviews. It’s just a girl sharing her honest opinion about some nifty vehicles.

Just recently, I drove the Mercedes-Benz C-Class around town, and like many of these test drives I’ve been doing for Baker, it was a first for me to drive a sporty luxury coupe (certainly, my husband’s old 1999 Honda Civic that he drove in college doesn’t count). This time around, the team at the dealership put me in a similar car—an Infiniti Q60 Coupe. At this point, I like that I’ve driven two cars in the same class. It makes it easier to make comparisons between the two models. So for those of you looking for a two-door coupe, here’s how the Infiniti holds up to scrutiny…

Gwynn’s Of Mount Pleasant Renovation Reveal Party

The Momentum team was excited to assist Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant in planning their Renovation Reveal Party to present the store’s brand-new dressing suites and exterior façade to attendees in the most fashionable way.

The always-lovely display of designer clothing inside Gwynn’s was accompanied by a DJ, a top-shelf bar with some of the finest wines and liquors, and passed hors d’oeuvres from Tristan. Attendees delighted in chickpea fries with green tomato ketchup, duck confit bites, citrus-cured salmon cucumber canapés, wild rice pancakes with smoked shrimp and shallot cream, and salt-roasted red bliss frogmore bites. Plus, a gourmet popcorn bar graced the foyer, presenting flavors such as white chocolate lavender and bourbon caramel.

Desiring a space for shoppers to try on the latest styles, store owner Marshall Simon decided to design dressing suites dedicated to testing the luxurious designer lines that Gwynn’s carries—from the sophisticated silhouettes of Lafayette 148 to the fun, contemporary looks of Alice and Olivia. With fine finishes and plush, cozy seating, the large dressing suites inside Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant provide ample space to sample all the season’s new looks and model the fashions with floor-to-ceiling mirrors and changeable lighting. The men’s fitting area boasts the same details, with a more refined, masculine appeal. With each dressing suite featuring their very own cocktail serving area, you can enjoy a stocked fridge of refreshing beverages or top-shelf liquors and champagne.

The Momentum team enjoyed sharing the beauty of the new dressing suites and the growth of Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant with the department store’s valued guests.

Momentum Takes On The Charleston Basket Brigade

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, our Momentum team is hard at work preparing for the 9th annual Charleston Basket Brigade. The nonprofit organization, started by Momentum Marketing’s Pam Hartley and her dear friend Michelle Scarafile, serves local families in need for Thanksgiving and is made possible with the help of our food partner (Piggly Wiggly), local volunteers and generous donations made by others. Every year since 2008, the number of families we feed continuously grows; in the past eight years, the Charleston Basket Brigade has fed 17,839 families!

Each basket we construct holds enough food to feed a family of six. By donating just $30, you can feed an entire family for the holiday. Volunteers are always needed to help assemble the baskets and hand deliver the meals to every receiving family.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Charleston Basket Brigade, you can click here to register. If you’d like to make a monetary donation online, you can do so here. The Momentum team is honored to play such a big role in this organization and to spread the word about the Charleston Basket Brigade. We encourage everyone to get involved this year to give back to those in need this holiday season.

Charleston’s Own Ashley Brook Perryman Leads Hair & Makeup at New York Fashion Week

Charleston’s own LA trained hair & makeup artist, Ashley Brook Perryman landed the Official Hair & Makeup Sponsor and Lead for the hair & makeup design for designer Lisa N. Hoang (LNH), at New York Fashion Week (NYFW): the show’s fall 2016 event. This was the first time Perryman directed a team of this caliber at NYFW.

Hair and makeup creative direction for NYFW shows are typically led and sponsored by big name brands like Maybelline and TRESSemme. However, given the opportunity by show director, inventivENVIRONMENTS and designer Lisa Hoang, Perryman’s team of professional hair and makeup artists, known as Team ABP, and recently launched cosmetic line, ABP makeup, felt right at home behind the scenes at two NYFW events. In fact, the team has worked together for several years doing over 48 shows in 5 days for Charleston Fashion Week each spring.

Perryman said, “It’s rare to have a hair and makeup team who is not only talented, but genuinely care and support each other. Most teams consist of a few staple people, along with new freelance artists. But Team ABP has been working together for years and includes 26 top industry professionals across the country from NY, FL, SC, NC, and GA. Our key to success is perseverance, humility, talent, and mutual love and respect for each other without the egos. Our goal is to bring the designer’s vision to life, and we all work together to make that happen. I’ll never forget feeling right at home with everyone backstage at NYFW.”

Perryman served as the Hair & Makeup Director & Lead at the Lisa N. Hoang Spring/Summer 2017 runway show on September 9 at The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Sq. Perryman also served as Makeup Lead at the Destani Hoffman New York Fashion Week Presentation on September 10.

“Both of these designers are incredible. Lisa has an amazing eye and talent. It was an honor to collaborate on hair and makeup with her for her NYFW debut. Destani has such a wonderful vibe for makeup, and it was so much fun working with her,” added Perryman.

As the Creative Director for hair & makeup at Charleston Fashion Week the last 10 years, Perryman’s experience in the beauty industry spotlight skyrocketed her and Team ABP to the main stage at New York Fashion Week.

Perryman added, “To be a part of one of the world’s most notable fashion week’s is an honor, and I’m incredibly thankful for the experience for me and my team. For some of the artists on my team, this was their very first New York Fashion Week, and being able to share the experience with one another and work with talented designers and distinguished people is something we will always remember. We’re looking forward to opportunities for the next New York Fashion Week season.”

Team ABP not only led the hair & makeup for these shows, but Perryman’s new cosmetic lipstick line, ABP Makeup, sponsored the show’s lip-wear. She custom blended a lip shade for the LNH show on the spot backstage.

ABP Makeup recently launched a line of lipstick sheers that are unlike any other lip-wear product on the market. As an 11-year tenured professional hair & makeup artist, Perryman has custom blended each shade using moisture rich ingredients, and has developed each shade to look universal on a variety of skin tones.

In just six short months of launching ABP Makeup lipstick sheers, the product has received notoriety both online and in retail stores, along with professional makeup artists and bloggers. The product has been featured at Charleston Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, and New York Fashion Week; and has been featured in The Face Magazine, The Lily Magazine, On Makeup Magazine, and Show Me Your MuMu’s Instagram account as well as celebrities including Ms. Gladys Knight.

Purchase ABP Makeup online at, or at The Spa at Belmond Charleston Place in Downtown Charleston, SC, and at Out of Hand Boutique in Mount Pleasant, SC.
