Gwynn’s Of Mount Pleasant Renovation Reveal Party

The Momentum team was excited to assist Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant in planning their Renovation Reveal Party to present the store’s brand-new dressing suites and exterior façade to attendees in the most fashionable way.

The always-lovely display of designer clothing inside Gwynn’s was accompanied by a DJ, a top-shelf bar with some of the finest wines and liquors, and passed hors d’oeuvres from Tristan. Attendees delighted in chickpea fries with green tomato ketchup, duck confit bites, citrus-cured salmon cucumber canapés, wild rice pancakes with smoked shrimp and shallot cream, and salt-roasted red bliss frogmore bites. Plus, a gourmet popcorn bar graced the foyer, presenting flavors such as white chocolate lavender and bourbon caramel.

Desiring a space for shoppers to try on the latest styles, store owner Marshall Simon decided to design dressing suites dedicated to testing the luxurious designer lines that Gwynn’s carries—from the sophisticated silhouettes of Lafayette 148 to the fun, contemporary looks of Alice and Olivia. With fine finishes and plush, cozy seating, the large dressing suites inside Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant provide ample space to sample all the season’s new looks and model the fashions with floor-to-ceiling mirrors and changeable lighting. The men’s fitting area boasts the same details, with a more refined, masculine appeal. With each dressing suite featuring their very own cocktail serving area, you can enjoy a stocked fridge of refreshing beverages or top-shelf liquors and champagne.

The Momentum team enjoyed sharing the beauty of the new dressing suites and the growth of Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant with the department store’s valued guests.

Momentum Takes On The Charleston Basket Brigade

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, our Momentum team is hard at work preparing for the 9th annual Charleston Basket Brigade. The nonprofit organization, started by Momentum Marketing’s Pam Hartley and her dear friend Michelle Scarafile, serves local families in need for Thanksgiving and is made possible with the help of our food partner (Piggly Wiggly), local volunteers and generous donations made by others. Every year since 2008, the number of families we feed continuously grows; in the past eight years, the Charleston Basket Brigade has fed 17,839 families!

Each basket we construct holds enough food to feed a family of six. By donating just $30, you can feed an entire family for the holiday. Volunteers are always needed to help assemble the baskets and hand deliver the meals to every receiving family.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Charleston Basket Brigade, you can click here to register. If you’d like to make a monetary donation online, you can do so here. The Momentum team is honored to play such a big role in this organization and to spread the word about the Charleston Basket Brigade. We encourage everyone to get involved this year to give back to those in need this holiday season.

Charleston’s Own Ashley Brook Perryman Leads Hair & Makeup at New York Fashion Week

Charleston’s own LA trained hair & makeup artist, Ashley Brook Perryman landed the Official Hair & Makeup Sponsor and Lead for the hair & makeup design for designer Lisa N. Hoang (LNH), at New York Fashion Week (NYFW): the show’s fall 2016 event. This was the first time Perryman directed a team of this caliber at NYFW.

Hair and makeup creative direction for NYFW shows are typically led and sponsored by big name brands like Maybelline and TRESSemme. However, given the opportunity by show director, inventivENVIRONMENTS and designer Lisa Hoang, Perryman’s team of professional hair and makeup artists, known as Team ABP, and recently launched cosmetic line, ABP makeup, felt right at home behind the scenes at two NYFW events. In fact, the team has worked together for several years doing over 48 shows in 5 days for Charleston Fashion Week each spring.

Perryman said, “It’s rare to have a hair and makeup team who is not only talented, but genuinely care and support each other. Most teams consist of a few staple people, along with new freelance artists. But Team ABP has been working together for years and includes 26 top industry professionals across the country from NY, FL, SC, NC, and GA. Our key to success is perseverance, humility, talent, and mutual love and respect for each other without the egos. Our goal is to bring the designer’s vision to life, and we all work together to make that happen. I’ll never forget feeling right at home with everyone backstage at NYFW.”

Perryman served as the Hair & Makeup Director & Lead at the Lisa N. Hoang Spring/Summer 2017 runway show on September 9 at The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Sq. Perryman also served as Makeup Lead at the Destani Hoffman New York Fashion Week Presentation on September 10.

“Both of these designers are incredible. Lisa has an amazing eye and talent. It was an honor to collaborate on hair and makeup with her for her NYFW debut. Destani has such a wonderful vibe for makeup, and it was so much fun working with her,” added Perryman.

As the Creative Director for hair & makeup at Charleston Fashion Week the last 10 years, Perryman’s experience in the beauty industry spotlight skyrocketed her and Team ABP to the main stage at New York Fashion Week.

Perryman added, “To be a part of one of the world’s most notable fashion week’s is an honor, and I’m incredibly thankful for the experience for me and my team. For some of the artists on my team, this was their very first New York Fashion Week, and being able to share the experience with one another and work with talented designers and distinguished people is something we will always remember. We’re looking forward to opportunities for the next New York Fashion Week season.”

Team ABP not only led the hair & makeup for these shows, but Perryman’s new cosmetic lipstick line, ABP Makeup, sponsored the show’s lip-wear. She custom blended a lip shade for the LNH show on the spot backstage.

ABP Makeup recently launched a line of lipstick sheers that are unlike any other lip-wear product on the market. As an 11-year tenured professional hair & makeup artist, Perryman has custom blended each shade using moisture rich ingredients, and has developed each shade to look universal on a variety of skin tones.

In just six short months of launching ABP Makeup lipstick sheers, the product has received notoriety both online and in retail stores, along with professional makeup artists and bloggers. The product has been featured at Charleston Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, and New York Fashion Week; and has been featured in The Face Magazine, The Lily Magazine, On Makeup Magazine, and Show Me Your MuMu’s Instagram account as well as celebrities including Ms. Gladys Knight.

Purchase ABP Makeup online at, or at The Spa at Belmond Charleston Place in Downtown Charleston, SC, and at Out of Hand Boutique in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Baker Motor Company Hosts Dinner at Middleton Place

Yesterday evening, our client Baker Motor Company hosted a dinner at the historic Middleton Place in appreciation and celebration of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Momentum Marketing worked with the event team at Middleton to plan the evening. Rolls-Royce selected their newest models to present to guest: the Wraith, the Dawn, and the Ghost. The three models were placed in front of the House Museum to showcase the beauty of the Rolls-Royce bespoke vehicles. The dinner was a handpicked, delicious four-course meal prepared by Middleton’s world-renowned chef who trained under Wolfgang Puck. All of the delectable recipes were inspired by West Sussex England, the region in which Roll-Royce Motor Cars are produced. Surrounded by America’s oldest landscaped gardens, the display of the three Rolls Royce vehicles was absolutely breathtaking and created a wonderful ambience for a memorable experience. We were honored to have put together this event for Baker Motor Company.

Momentum Goes to School for Community Pizza House

The Community Pizza House is in the midst of creating a craftsmen wall for their new restaurant. In search for images of local hands working on creative tasks, the Momentum team traveled to Dorchester County Career and Technology Center (DCCTC) to take photos of the hands-on programs the school has to offer to use for the restaurant’s project.

The visit to DCCTC was extremely inspirational, as we witnessed young adults learning trades locally while still attending high school. Most of these students will have the privilege of already being licensed before graduation; they’ll have a career before attending college. The school offers 18 programs including welding, masonry, culinary arts, cosmetology and more. While touring the school and taking photos of the students at work, we discovered there are many different kinds of craftsman in the world.

Community Pizza House is an awesome and unique place to dine and enjoy a few drinks. The pizzas are all hand-crafted and cooked in a wood fire. We are so excited to be a part of this project and see first-hand the works of craftsmen.

Like Community Pizza House on Facebook to keep up with their projects and stop in to join them for a pie!

Momentum Marketing Plans 718 Boxster Launch for indiGO Auto Group’s Porsche St. Louis

Porsche St. Louis Boxster Launch

We were so excited to plan a track day for the crew and customers of indiGO Auto Group’s Porsche St. Louis at Gateway Motorsports Track. Our Content and Events Manager Megan Busch joined the party in St. Louis, making sure each detail was executed properly.

Porsche_StLouis_BoxsterLaunch_Track  The buzz about the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster has not dulled since the roadster’s release earlier this year, and dealerships across the nation have been eager to share the new redesign with customers. On September 9th, the team at Porsche St. Louis met 32 auto enthusiasts at Gateway Motorsports Track for an exciting day of high speeds and fast curves in the new 718 Boxster to celebrate the vehicle’s debut. Gateway Motorsports Track is a nationally known course located just outside of St. Louis in Madison, Illinois.

The event was divided into two sessions. Guests of our morning session enjoyed a Rev Your Engine breakfast (complete with cool classics, like pastries, fresh fruit, and a parfait bar) and an Omelet Station with all the accompaniments. Our afternoon session ended with a selection of Track Favorite snacks, from churros and chocolate to gourmet hamburger sliders. During these meals, the new 718 Boxster was revealed for all in attendance to touch, feel, and see up close.

Porsche_StLouis_BoxsterLaunch_TrackLed by professional Porsche driving instructor Cass Whitehead, each group of 16 hit the asphalt after a chalk talk designed to instill safe track practices and to explain the intricacies of the Porsche Boxster’s V6 engine and PDK automatic transmission. Two Boxsters and two Boxster S models were available on the track, and drivers had the opportunity to test the limits of each type. Our drivers reached maximum speeds of 140 miles per hour as they made their way around the NASCAR-style course.

Guests left Gateway with a new appreciation of the Boxster’s powerful engine and a retro-style poster commemorating the classic car’s 2017 redesign.

Baker Motor Company Supports Music with Friends

We love working with clients who support the community, local charities, and the arts!

Earlier this year, Tommy B. Baker, owner and president of Baker Motor Company, became a partner of the Charleston chapter of Music With Friends alongside Larry Farber, founder and CEO. A long-time member of the music club, Mr. Baker is thrilled to be a partner to grow the club to its full capacity, 400 members. His company, Baker Motor Company, has been named the presenting sponsor for the 2016-2018 seasons.

The second concert of the 2016 Music With Friends season was hosted at the Dock Street Theater last Tuesday and featured a musical performance by Kool & the Gang. Baker Motor Company’s Land Rover West Ashley sponsored this particular concert and displayed two new Range Rovers out front for all to see.

Music With Friends is an exclusive club that provides three unforgettable musical experiences for a select audience a year. The evening begins with a cocktail party with complimentary catering and beverages catered by some of Charleston’s most touted restaurants; followed by an intimate performance from world renowned artist(s) at the historic Dock Street Theatre; and then capped off with and exciting after party. When you join the club there is a one-time fee of $500 per person, and a $1,650 annual membership fee.

Music With Friends began in 2006 in Charlotte, North Carolina with a few friends who desired a better concert experience. Tired of only getting to see the performers that they wanted to see in large arenas with the stress of crowds and parking, they set out to create the ultimate music lover’s concert experience. The mission is to create hassle-free, intimate experiences with some of the most renowned performing artists in the world. Music with Friends is established in four cities including Charleston, SC, Charlotte, NC, Nashville, TN, and Houston, TX. Now, after eight successful seasons of unforgettable concert experiences, Music With Friends is excited to move into its ninth outstanding season with new artists and new locations.

We enjoyed coordinating this sponsorship and working with Music with Friends to make this most recent concert a success!

Charleston Basket Brigade Welcomes Piggly Wiggly as 2016 Food Partner

The Charleston Basket Brigade (CBB), a Charleston area nonprofit on a mission to serve local families in need at Thanksgiving, is pleased to announce that Piggly Wiggly is the official 2016 food partner for the 9th Annual Charleston Basket Brigade. The 2016 goal is to raise $105,000 to feed 3,500 Charleston Tri-County families (approximately 21,000 people) this year for Thanksgiving. This year the CBB will take place at the Charleston Area Convention Center Exhibit Hall C on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 promptly at 7:00 am. The CBB is a grassroots effort and 100% of donations are utilized to purchase food. A full list of volunteer and fundraising opportunities are available online at

As the official food partner, all groceries will be purchased from Piggly Wiggly. Piggly Wiggly has also committed an $11,000 discount on food to the Charleston Basket Brigade, and will coordinate all of the food being delivered to the North Charleston Area Convention Center for meal assembly.

Lynn Willard, President of Lowcountry Grocers, LLC, said, “We are thrilled to be the food partner for the Charleston Basket Brigade. This is a true local partnership of local people and local companies making a difference. This is an opportunity for our Piggly Wiggly family to help out other families in need. We work and live in this community, and we see the people that need help every day. One hundred percent of the Charleston Basket Brigade effort helps people that are truly in need. It is humbling and exciting to be a part of it.”

Pam Hartley, co-founder of the Charleston Basket Brigade said, “After our first year, we teamed up with Piggly Wiggly in 2009. Piggly Wiggly was the most generous partner to work with and supported our efforts in many ways. We worked with closely with the Pig for several years until the company sold most of its stores throughout Charleston. When Lynn Willard approached us earlier this year about Piggly Wiggly lending its support, we were ecstatic. As a local company, Piggly Wiggly is the perfect match for the Basket Brigade. Our mission is grassroots and heartfelt, and Lynn Willard and his entire Piggly Wiggly team share in our vision and passion to serve our local community. We couldn’t be happier to have them as our grocery partner.”

The CBB was founded in 2008 by close friends Pam Hartley and Michelle Scarafile. What started as a small effort feeding 75 families has grown to serve 3,500 families in its ninth year. In the past eight years, the Charleston Basket Brigade has raised a total of $534,500 and fed 17,839 families in need (approximately 142,712 people; as each meal feeds six to ten people).

It only takes $30 to feed a family of six and every penny raised is utilized to purchase food. Each family receives a box of food to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal including a 10-12 lb. turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, fresh rolls, and a pumpkin pie. Inside the box is an anonymous letter that reads, “This comes to you from someone who cares about you.  All we ask is that you take care of yourself well enough to be able to do this for someone else one day.”

Hundreds of Charleston area residents, businesses, schools, churches, organizations raise money and volunteer each and every year to make the Charleston Basket Brigade happen. After a year of fundraising, volunteers gather at the Charleston Area Convention Center Exhibit Hall C to assemble the meals and then hand deliver every single to meal to the receiving families.

To successfully execute the effort, the CBB also partners with Carolina One Real Estate, Communities In Schools, and Momentum Marketing.

The CBB is a 501-(c)(3) nonprofit. Individual and corporate donations are tax deductible can be made online at

Earlier this year, the Exchange Club of Charleston handed out 74 grants to local charities and organizations in the amount of $704,219.00. This astronomical amount of money is raised at The Coastal Carolina Fair each year, where Exchange Club members work and volunteer year-round to host this state-wide event.

115 Exchange Club members enjoyed a home-cooked southern meal at today’s luncheon followed by a 20 minute talk from Pam about the brigade’s efforts.

Pam said, “It meant so much to me to be asked to speak at the Exchange Club of Charleston luncheon today so I could personally thank the members of the club for their generous grant to the CharCBB Pamleston Basket Brigade. This club does so much for so many people in our community. All walks of life will benefit from the 74 grants that were handed out this year. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to share with them how their donation to the Basket Brigade will serve 100 families in need this Thanksgiving.”

At each luncheon the Exchange Club hosts a cash raffle, and the winner of today’s raffle, Mark Heath, was gracious enough to donate his $180 winnings to the brigade to feed 6 families for Thanksgiving.

Thank you to the Exchange Club of Charleston and this year’s Fair President, Billy Robinson for inviting the basket brigade to today’s luncheon. On behalf of Momentum Marketing and the Charleston Basket Brigade, we encourage everyone to attend this year’s Coastal Carolina Fair, held October 27 – November 6, to support the Exchange Club of Charleston and their tireless work for our community.

Five Marketing Tips for Startups

Coming onto the market as a brand-new company with little to no exposure can be difficult and intimidating. What will draw the consumer in? How do you develop customer loyalty to your product and company? Startups that end in failure tend to have little or no marketing for the product that they have produced or the service they are providing. There usually isn’t a compelling enough value proposition or event to cause the buyer to commit to purchasing. Check out these helpful tips and tricks to jumpstart a successful business that will continue to grow.

  1. Start a company with a mission and a purpose. Create a never-ending product that can expand and advance to each and every targeted consumer in the market. Set a goal!
  2. Find a niche; don’t strive to be everything to everyone right away. Focus and execute the company’s goals.
  3. Understand and work with your co-founders by discussing expectations, funds, projects, and important company decision. Collaboration is key in the early stages of a business.
  4. Discover who your audience is and use targeted advertising to reach out to the right consumers on a day-to-day basis.
  5. Use the voices of the community–influencers, bloggers, and media–to help spread the word of your product or service to improve exposure and sales.

Momentum Visits the Center for Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey Center Baker Sponsorship

Last week, Momentum sent team members Kayla Duclos and Megan Busch to visit the Center for Birds of Prey. Baker Motor Company’s Land Rover West Ashley is sponsoring the upcoming Zugunruhe Fest hosted by the Center for Birds of Prey and the Avian Conservation Center in Awendaw. We’re eager to see four new Land Rovers on display for the event!

The adventure to the Center for Birds of Prey was not just about business. As Megan and Kayla toured the center, they discovered several species including the British Barn Owl, the Black Vulture, and the Bald Eagle. The Center for Birds of Prey houses 50 different species, most of which aren’t typically found in the Lowcountry. Certain species are becoming extinct due to the abundance of fertilizers in the ecosystem, ingesting hormones from other deceased animals, and encounters with litter, such as plastic rings from soda packaging and fishing line. Whenever an injured bird is spotted, the experts at the Birds of Prey Clinic do their best to capture the bird and perform the appropriate procedures to eventually release it back into the wild.

Birds of Prey Center Baker SponsorshipThe upcoming Zugunruhe Fest is a celebration of the Southeastern Fall Migration in which many species will be flying to their wintering grounds. We invite you to join Land Rover West Ashley at the event, taking place September 15th through 17th.

Swift and Affordable, Sporty and Chic: A Review of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe

By Megan Busch

I’m not a girl who knows a ton about cars. I’ve driven Jeeps all my life (as has my mother), and I really haven’t veered off that track—ever. So, I’ve teamed up with the group at Baker Motor Company to try new things, namely cars outside my norm. A few times each month, I’ll be driving one of Baker’s cars and letting you know what I think. This isn’t going to be a series of Car and Driver or Motor Trend reviews. It’s just a girl sharing her honest opinion about some nifty vehicles.

As you can probably imagine, it’s difficult to suppress high expectations when I hop into any ol’ two-door car after driving the Porsche 718 Boxster. As I grabbed the keys to a Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, I wondered what was going to be special about this particular sporty car and what would grab my attention. Essentially, what would make this vehicle better than the Boxster?

The C-Class wasn’t a Boxster, but I really liked that it wasn’t trying to be. It didn’t have an engine that roared louder and more powerfully than a Mac truck. It wasn’t a convertible, and it wasn’t a two-seater. The C-Class aimed to be more practical, which as a consumer, I can fully appreciate. It’s not striving to be the fastest, the most powerful, or the absolute most luxurious, but it takes the average coupe and makes it desirable, comfortable, and fun (not to mention, relatively affordable).
