Charleston Basket Brigade Descends on Convention Center With an Army of Volunteers! Live5 Covers the Event …

We were up bright and early this morning before a lot of you had your coffee — it was Charleston Basket Brigade Day!

An army of volunteers (estimated over 1,000 total) met us at the North Charleston Convention Center where we filled boxes full of groceries, loaded them into vehicles, then drove them all over the tri-county area, delivering a full Thanksgiving meal to thousands of families. There were forklift drivers, haulers, coordinators and even plenty of kids helping us bring a holiday meal to a family in need!

It was an amazing scene, and we here at Momentum Marketing were touched by the outpouring of support shown in this community for the 5th year in a row. Momentum Marketing agency principal and Charleston Basket Brigade co-founder Pam Hartley said, “This was our biggest year ever, more volunteers, more families in need, more delivery routes to route, more money to raise, more everything.  It was awe-inspiring to experience the outpouring of support from thousands of people willing to help by donating their time and money.  We are so humbled.”

Close friends Hartley and Scarafile began The Charleston Basket Brigade in 2008 with a commitment to bring the community together to provide Thanksgiving meals for families in need in Charleston.  In total, they’ve raised over $238,000 to feed more than 47,000 local residents in five years.
