The Coastal Cupboard Sets Fundraising Goal For November Knife Charity Event Benefitting The Charleston Basket Brigade

charityMomentum client, The Coastal Cupboard, is pleased to announce that the store has set a record high goal for the store’s Semi Annual Charity Knife Sharpening Event this fall of $6,000.

The event will be held at The Coastal Cupboard from Thursday, November 5 – Sunday, November 8, 2015 (10:00 am – 5:00 pm Thursday-Saturday; 12:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday). Everyone in the community is invited to get their knives sharpened for just $1 per knife and every dollar benefits the Charleston Basket Brigade (CBB), a local non-profit on a mission to feed 3,500 Charleston area families in need for Thanksgiving.

The increased goal of $6,000 will feed 200 families, which is approximately 1,200 people. Pitner said, “Our Charity Knife Event becomes bigger each year thanks to this generous community. We decided to increase our goal to raise $6,000 for the Charleston Basket Brigade because they have committed to feeding even more families this year. Every dollar we donate goes towards buying food for someone in need here locally on Thanksgiving.”

Pam Hartley, co-founder of the Charleston Basket Brigade, said, “This is our biggest year yet. We have increased our goal to feed 3,500 families based on need in this community, which has in turn has increased our fundraising goal to over $105,000. We are forever grateful to The Coastal Cupboard for making such a difference for our charity for the past 3 years. This year it means so much since we have 200 more families to feed.”

This is the 8th year the CBB will serve Charleston families in need with meals for Thanksgiving. It only takes $30 to feed a family of six and every penny donated is utilized to purchase food. Each family receives a box of food to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal including a 10-12 lb. turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, fresh rolls, butter and a pumpkin pie. Inside the box is an anonymous letter that reads, “This comes to you from someone who cares about you. All we ask is that you take care of yourself well enough to be able to do this for someone else one day.” On Tuesday, November 24, 2015 volunteers will assemble and deliver the meals to each and every family just in time for Thanksgiving.
