Lunching at Halls Chophouse with Mark Toro, Project Leader of Lorelei

Momentum Agency Principal Pam Hartley and our Vice President of Accounts Lawrence Greenspon attended a fascinating luncheon today at Halls Chophouse to learn about a brand-new development coming to the Charleston peninsula—Lorelei. Seeking to create a space that truly brings community together, Project Leader Mark Toro and his team at North American Properties have designed a 160-acre attachment to the peninsula for mixed use commercial and residential spaces, from event venues and parks to private homes and hotels. It’s aiming to be a city within our city, connected by a bridge (with bike lanes, of course!) from Morrison Drive.

We all know that growth on the peninsula is limited by a combination of sea walls and building height restrictions. Lorelei intends to offer new spaces for Charlestonians to enjoy in proximity to downtown without actually impacting the historic aspects of the peninsula. To create this concept, which is set to break ground in 2018, the development team has been meeting with local thought leaders, designers, stakeholders, city officials, businesses and community members to gauge the spirit of Charleston and the needs of the Lowcountry. The parent company of Lorelei, North American Properties, has a strong track record of creating beautiful, functional mixed-use developments across the United States, including the highly praised Avalon “urbanburb” in Alpharetta, GA.

Hartley stated, “It was so incredible to see a presentation on North American Properties’ track record in other communities. Charleston is a place that attracts new residents and tourists at a record pace and this development will only enhance our beautiful city. Lorelei is going to be a spectacular community space with top amenities from a company that truly knows how to tap into the inspiration that drives a community.”
