Oreo's Ad Slam "Dunks" the Competition on Twitter

oreoWhen a power outage affected the Super Bowl Sunday night, Oreo capitalized on the event with a hastily-designed, albeit, brilliantly simple ad.

Oreo tweeted this ad with the caption “Power out? No problem.” Since then, it’s been retweeted more than 14,000 times and received thousands of Facebook likes — meaning that the biggest advertising winner of advertising’s most expensive day was on Twitter (read free).

The Oreo team was able to move so fast because they had the company execs in the same room with the ad execs, creating a super-fast approval process for the idea, and suddenly the classic cookie positioned themselves as current, witty, and super-savvy.
