Pam Hartley and Michelle Scarafile Named Giving Back Awards Community Catalyst Finalists

We are so proud of our own Pam Hartley, who with the Charleston Basket Brigade co-founder Michelle Scarfile, has just been named one of three finalists for the Giving Back Awards’ Community Catalyst nomination! On Thursday, September 21, 2012 Darcy Shankland from Charleston Magazine and George Stevens from The Coastal Community Foundation announced the nominees for the 2012 Giving Back Awards during several news broadcasts on WCBD Channel 2 TV. An article on the duo will also appear in the November 2012 issue of Charleston Magazine, so look for the issue hitting newsstands this fall!

Pam says, “Michelle and I are so honored to be nominated for this award on behalf of the thousands of community members, business partners, friends and families that make this event happen every year. It would not be possible without the unwavering support and contributions of Carolina One Real Estate, Piggly Wiggly, Communities in Schools, my incredible team at Momentum Marketing and an army of selfless volunteers and donors. We all come together in the spirit of making Thanksgiving special for thousands of families in need throughout the Lowcountry and our concerted effort spreads gratitude in so many directions. It’s an amazing cause we’re proud to be a part of.”

Since its inception in 2008, the non-profit has fed thousands and raised over $139,000. Pam and Michelle have set the largest goal ever for the organization’s 2012 effort pledging to raise $100,000 dollars to feed over 20,000 local residents in need on Thanksgiving! 100% of money raised goes towards buying food.
