Facebook Helps Rescue Stranded Drivers in the South

Good ole southern hospitality occurred during the extreme winter weather here in the South. We found this article chronicling how Facebook and other social media networks came in handy for good Samaritans to help rescue those who were trapped in their cars or took to walking in the cold.

In snowy Atlanta, stranded drivers sent social media SOS calls to a Facebook group called SnowedOutAtlanta.

One of those messages was received by Craig Catalfu, a 25-year-old who was looking to help some of the thousands of drivers stranded on the icy streets of the city after a winter storm passed through.

In this case, social media helped save a pregnant woman, Katie Horne, as he guided her to her home after the interstates had become more of less of a parking lot.

“Quite honestly, I ‘m pleasantly shocked by the kindness and goodness of strangers,” Horne said. “I had never met Craig or any of these people who kept posting messages saying they were praying for me.”

It truly warms our heart to hear stories like this. We are so inspired and it goes to show how kind and helpful people can be during times of need. We salute you, Craig Catalfu!
