Today was the BIG DAY for the Charleston Basket Brigade as volunteers joined us early this morning at the North Charleston Convention Center to assemble the Thanksgiving meals and deliver them to families all across the Charleston Tri-County area!

Hundreds of eager volunteers donated their time Monday night preparing the boxes and even more volunteers met us bright and early this morning to get into their assembly groups to fill those boxes with all the ingredients to cook a Thanksgiving meal such as green beans, corn, pumpkin pie, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, fresh rolls, and yams plus a full 10 lb. to 14 lb. turkey!1465276_565034960217314_575120587_n

We also had volunteers donate their time to deliver the meals to families in our community. Once we loaded the boxes into their cars, our generous volunteers drove them all over the Tri-county area, delivering a full Thanksgiving meal to thousands of families. There were box loaders, haulers, assembly line coordinators and even plenty of generous children helping us bring a holiday meal to 20,000 residents in need!

We want to thank the businesses that helped us reach our donation goal and volunteered with us this year including Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant and The Wrenn Group.

We also want to send a special thanks to Carolina One Real Estate, Bi-Lo, Taylor Agency, Alcoa, Trident United Way, Boeing, Cummings, Durham School Services, 98 Rock, The Bridge 105.5, Daniel Island Real Estate, Indigo Road Restaurant Group, The Coastal Cupboard, Crews Chevrolet and Crews Subaru, Charleston Center for Women, Daniel Island News, Queology, Carolina Chargers, Wonder Works, and the Charleston United Leadership Council for all of your hard work- you helped us make a wonderful impact for so many!

It was incredible to see so many people come together to help over 3,000 families have a joyful Thanksgiving holiday this year with their loved ones. The Momentum team was taken aback by the kindness of this community which made all of our coordination, promotion, and volunteering for the Charleston Basket Brigade mean so much.

The Charleston Basket Brigade was created by Michelle Scarafile and Momentum Agency Principal, Pam Hartley, in 2008 with a commitment to bring the community together to provide Thanksgiving meals for families in need in Charleston.  For more information, visit the website here.
