Cooper River Bridge Run Unveils 2017 Design Created by Charleston Artist Tate Nation

We love working with the Cooper River Bridge Run, and we were so excited to attend the unveiling celebration of the 40th anniversary artwork last night at Alhambra Hall!

Julian Smith, Executive Race Director of the Cooper River Bridge Run (CRBR), unveiled the official artwork for the 2017 CRBR last night at a private ceremony. The winning design was created by Charleston artist, Tate Nation, who was also the 2017 People’s Choice winner. Nation’s design will be featured on all t-shirts, posters and promotional materials for the 10K, which will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017. His colorful design gives a subtle nod to the Bridge Run’s 40th Anniversary, which will be a large part of this year’s events and festivities.

There were 68 eligible designs submitted this year. In July, approximately 8,000 people voted in the “People’s Choice” survey, where Tate Nation’s design received the most votes. As the People’s Choice winner, Nation’s design was considered among the top 10 designs at a private judging and was ultimately chosen as the official winner. Tate Nation will receive $1,000, 100 posters, 24 t-shirts, and countless recognition of being part of this award-winning 10K.

The Bridge Run auctioned off all other design entries at the ceremony to raise funds for the Bridge Run’s 16 benefitting charities.

The Cooper River Bridge Run gave a special thanks to the presenting sponsor, Boeing, the grocery store sponsor, Harris Teeter, and 2017 t-shirt sponsors, Michelob Ultra, Gildan, Jim ‘N Nicks, Johnson Moving and Storage, The Post and Courier, and Departure Media. Their generous support is invaluable in making the Bridge Run happen each and every year.
