Facebook Ads: Essential Tips for Your Ad Campaign

Facebook ads drive new traffic to Facebook pages and websites, encourage interaction, and call attention to new products and features. Therefore, they are an integral part of our social media strategies for our clients and a great way to start building and spreading your fanbase.

However, jumping into Facebook Ads can be uneasy territory for those who have never closely monitored a campaign. Here are a few tips and tricks to getting started, targeting your ads, and getting the most bang for your buck:

  1. Set goals. Driving fans to your Facebook page doesn’t guarantee that they’ll give it a Like. Is your goal to increase Facebook likes, wall interactions, click-throughs to your website, or all of the above? Once you have set goals, it’s easier to set your target ads.
  2. Mark your targets. Now that you have a goal, target the audience that will be the most influential to accomplish those goals. Are your primary customers women ages 22-45? Do your shoppers live within 25 miles or more? Think about how your demographics break down, and then get more creative.
  3. A call to click. Give your targets a call to action within your copy. “Sale today!” is effective, but adding details like “Up to 60% off! Browse now – sale ends tomorrow!” calls your audience to action and to get interested.
  4. Prepare your page. Spending money on ads won’t get you anywhere if your Facebook page is static and empty of content, photos and interactions. When fans click through your ad, they’re going to want to see that you’ve already been active and participating on your page. Make sure you work on this before driving fans to a page that hasn’t been updated since four months before. Fans do pay attention to dates!
