Millennials: Are they part of your target market?

Millienials are strongly aware of Gap's (RED) campaign.

Are Millennials in your company’s target demographic? Millennials (born 1982-2001) or Generation Y, are more aware of a brand’s campaigns than any other age group, specifically if it’s cause marketing (think Gap’s (RED) campaign or Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty). Media Post reports that 40% of teens learn about these campaigns via social media, and 28% get their campaign information from online news. Further, only 26% admit to watching more than 20 hours of TV a week, but 42% of Millenial TV watchers do so on their laptops.

No matter who you are marketing to, Millennials are a force to be reckoned with. (Don’t forget that Facebook’s founders fall into this generation as well.) Even if they aren’t your target demographic, Millennials are still the current trendsetters. Attracting them to your brand or having their input can revitalize a company or message.
